Project Phoenix - Bluetooth Training Companion App

Effective Date: June 5, 2026

Plain-language summary: Project Phoenix is a free, community-built app provided "as is." It controls powerful resistance equipment, so use it responsibly and at your own risk. By using it, you accept the safety warnings and disclaimers below.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Project Phoenix ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms apply to the Android app, the iOS app, and the optional Phoenix Portal web companion.

2. What Project Phoenix Is

Project Phoenix is an independent, volunteer-developed application that provides Bluetooth control, workout programming, tracking, and training features for compatible resistance equipment. It is provided free of charge as community beta software. Features may change, break, or be removed between releases.

3. Safety Warnings — Please Read

The App controls fitness equipment capable of applying significant resistance (up to 200–220 kg). Improper use can cause serious injury. By using the App you acknowledge and agree that:

4. Assumption of Risk

Strength training involves inherent risks. You voluntarily assume all risks associated with your use of the App and your equipment, including risk of property damage, personal injury, or death. You are solely responsible for your own health, safety, and training decisions.

5. Not Medical or Professional Advice

The App may display metrics, estimates (such as one-rep-max calculations), insights, and suggestions for informational purposes only. These are not medical, fitness, or professional advice, and may be inaccurate. Always use your own judgment and consult qualified professionals.

6. "As Is" — No Warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with your equipment, or that any defects will be corrected.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developers, contributors, and 9th Level Software shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any injury, loss, or damage of any kind arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the App or your equipment, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because the App is provided free of charge, you agree that this limitation is reasonable.

8. Optional Accounts & Acceptable Use

Some features — Cloud Sync and the Phoenix Portal web companion (a premium service at phoenix-portal.com) — require an optional account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. You agree not to misuse the App or its backend services, including attempting to disrupt, reverse-engineer for malicious purposes, overload, or gain unauthorized access to other users' data.

9. Intellectual Property & Trademarks

Project Phoenix is an independent project. Product names, service names, and marks referenced for compatibility or integrations are the property of their respective owners. All other content of the App and this site is the property of its respective authors.

10. Third-Party Services

Optional features rely on third-party services (for example Supabase for sync, Google/Apple for sign-in, and Apple Health/Health Connect). Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how data is handled (local-first, with optional cloud sync).
